Mother says: The Mother :                                    What is perfection? Some people put perfection at the apex. It is generally thought that perfection is the maximum one can do. But I say that perfection is not the apex, it is not an extreme. There is no extreme—whatever you may do, there is always the possibility of something better, and it is exactly this possibility of something better which is the very meaning of progress. Mother says: The Mother :                                    Generally, all progress made on one side is set off by an attack of the adverse forces on the other. So, the more you advance, the more vigilant must you become. And the most essential quality is perseverance, endurance, and a... what shall I call it?—a kind of inner good humour which helps you not to get discouraged, not to become sad, and to face all difficulties with a smile. There is an English word which expresses this very well—cheerfulness. Message of the Day: Surrender

Mother says: The Mother :                                    What is surrender? It means that one gives oneself entirely to the Divine. Yes, and then what happens? If you give yourself entirely to the Divine, it is He who does the Yoga, it is no longer you; hence this is not very difficult; while if you do tapasya, it is you yourself who do the yoga and you carry its whole responsibility—it is there the danger lies. But there are people who prefer to have the whole responsibility, with its dangers, because they have a very independent spirit. They are not perhaps in a great hurry— if they need several lives to succeed, it does not matter to them. But there are others who want to go quicker and be more sure of reaching the goal; well, these give over the whole responsibility to the Divine. -Questions and Answers 1950    What does the human will actually surrender?  In order to be a good and conscientious citizen, we must give up bad habits in favour of good habits. But for one who wants to unite with his soul, all habits have to be given up. Habit itself is a limiting movement, a dead movement. Therefore all habits have to go.  Both bad and good habits have to be given up in favour of the higher consciousness within us, the inner Divine.    An unpunctual man is always late, and the punctual man always on time. The unpunctual man is despised by the society whereas the punctual man is appreciated. But how to give up this good habit? The mind has accepted the idea of punctuality and implements it. Punctuality does not belong to the level of the soul. It belongs to the mind. If you function from the mind, it is a mental act.  But it is possible to offer the idea of punctuality to the inner Divine. Let the soul accept the idea. Message of the Day: இறைவனின் ஆசியால் பெற்றதற்கும், உங்களின் ஆசையால் பெற்றதற்கும் வேறுபாடுகள் உண்டு

Mother says: The Mother :                                    You must accept all things—and only those things—that come from the Divine. Because things can come from concealed desires. The desires work in the subconscious and bring things to you which, although you may not recognise them as such, nevertheless do not come from the Divine but from disguised desires. You can easily know when a thing comes from the Divine. You feel free, you are at ease, you are in peace. But when something presents itself to you and you jump at it and cry out, “Oh, at last I have it”, then you can know for certain that it does not come from the Divine. Not one day have I stopped taking the usual care of those who depend on my force. Try to be spontaneous and simple like a child in your relations with me — it will save you from many difficulties. நீங்கள் எத்தகைய தன்மை உடையவர்களோ அப்படிப்பட்ட நிகழ்வுகளையே வாழ்வில் சந்திக்கிறீர்கள் என்பதை ஒருபோது மறவாதீர்கள். எனது கருணையும் ஆசிகளும் உங்களுக்கு எப்போதும் உண்டு. என்னை நம்பி இருப்பவர்களை  ஒருநாளும் நான் கவனிக்கத் தவறியது இல்லை என்கிறார் அன்னை. Message of the Day: கற்பனை எதையும் சாதிக்கும், அதனால் விழிப்பாக இருங்கள்

Mother says: The Mother :                                    Imagination is a power of formation. In fact, people who have no imagination are not formative from the mental point of view, they cannot give a concrete power to their thought. Imagination is a very powerful means of action. For instance, if you have a pain somewhere and if you imagine that you are making the pain disappear or are removing it or destroying it—all kinds of images like that—well, you succeed perfectly.  There’s a story of a person who was losing her hair at a fantastic rate, enough to become bald within a few weeks, and then someone told her, “When you brush your hair, imagine that it is growing and will grow very fast.” And always, while brushing her hair, she said, “Oh, my hair is growing! Oh, it will grow very fast!...”—And it happened! But what people usually do is to tell themselves, “Ah, all my hair is falling again and I shall become bald, that’s certain, it’s going to happen!” And of course it happens! கற்பனைக்கு உருவாக்கும் சக்தி உண்டு. உதாரணமாக நீங்கள் வலியை உணரும் போது, அது விரைவாக மறைவதாக கற்பனை செய்தால், அது நடக்கிறது. தனது தலைமுடியை வேகமாக, இழந்து வந்தார் ஒருவர். அவரது நண்பர் அவரிடம், "நீங்களல் ஒவ்வொரு முறை தலை வாரும் பொழுது, உங்களது  முடி வெகு விரைவாக வளர்கிறது என்று கற்பனை செய்து கொள்ளுங்கள்" என்றார். அவர் அவ்விதமே செய்ய அது நிஜமானது.  ஆனால், வாழ்க்கையில் பெரும்பாலோனோர், Negative வாகவே நினைப்பதால், அவர்களின் கற்பனைக்கு ஏற்ப தவறும் நிகழ்கிறது என்கிறார் ஸ்ரீ அன்னை. Message of the Day: ஆசை என்பது அடங்கக் கூடிய குதிரையே

Mother says: The Mother :                                    A wild horse can be tamed but one never puts a bridle on a tiger. Why is that? Because in the tiger there is a wicked, cruel and incorrigible force, so that we cannot expect anything good from him and have to destroy him to prevent him from doing harm. கட்டுப்படாத காட்டுக் குதிரைக்கு கடிவாளமிடுவர். ஆனால் புலிக்கு அவ்விதம் இடுவதில்லை. ஏனெனில் புலியின் இயற்கையான குணமே மிருகத்தனமானது. அதனிடம் இருந்து நல்லவற்றை எதிர்பார்க்க முடியாது, அதனிடம் இருந்து நமக்கு ஏற்படும் பாதிப்பை விலக்கவே நாம் முயற்சிக்கிறோம். கட்டுபாடாத காட்டுக் குதிரையை சிறிது பொறுமையும், முயற்சியும் இருந்தால் அடக்கி விடலாம். பழகிய சிறிது காலத்தில், அது நமது கட்டளைக்கு கட்டுப்படுகிறது, ஏன் நம்மிடம் அன்பு செலுத்தக் கூட அது ஆரம்பித்து விடுகிறது.  மனிதர்களிலும் இத்தகைய அடக்க முடியாத ஆசைகளைக் காணமுடிகிறது. சில குணங்கள், ஆசைகள் மிகவும் கடுமையாக உள்ளதைக் காணலாம். ஆனால் இவை புலியின் குணத்தினைப் போன்று கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாதவை அல்ல. உங்களின் ஆசைகளுக்கு நீங்களே சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு என்ற கடிவாளத்தினை இடுவதன் மூலம், கட்டுப்படும் குதிரையினைப் போல நமது ஆசைகளையும், குணஇயல்புகளையும் கட்டுக்குள் கொண்டு வர முடியும் என்கிறார் அன்னை. But the wild horse, on the other hand, however unmanageable and skittish he may be to begin with, can be controlled with a little effort and patience. In time he learns to obey and even to love us, and in the end he will of his own accord offer his mouth to the bit that is given to him. In men too there are rebellious and  unmanageable desires and impulses, but these things are rarely uncontrollable like the tiger. They are more often like the wild horse: to be broken in they need a bridle; and the best bridle is the one you put on them yourself, the one called self-control. ஆன்மா ஜடத்தை நிர்ணயிப்பது என்றால் என்ன?

ஆன்மா ஜடத்தை நிர்ணயிப்பது என்றால் என்ன? விவேகானந்தர் பசியோடு ரயில்வே ஸ்டேஷனில் தூங்கியபொழுது கிருஷ்ணன், பலகாரக்கடை வியாபாரி பகல் தூங்கும்பொழுது அவன் கனவில் வந்து, என் பக்தன் பசியோடிருக்கிறான், அவனுக்குப் பக்ஷணம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு ஓடு என்றார். அவனும் ஓடி வந்தான். விவேகானந்தருடைய ஆன்மா செயல்பட்டு உணவை அவரிடம் கொண்டுவந்தது. அதுவே வாழ்க்கை நியதியானால் மனிதவாழ்வு, தெய்வீகவாழ்வாகும். விஷம் சாப்பிட்டால் உடல் இறந்துபோகும் என்ற சட்டம் மீரா விஷயத்தில் பலிக்கவில்லை. மீராவின் பக்திக்குள்ள சக்தி விஷத்தின் சக்தியைவிட அதிகமாகி பக்தி, உடலைக் காப்பாற்றியது. உணர்வு, உடலின் வாழ்வை - விஷத்தை மீறி - நிர்ணயிக்கிறது. மந்திரவாதி உச்சரிக்கும் மந்திரம் பாம்பின் விஷத்தால் இறந்து கொண்டிருப்பவனைத் தடுக்கிறது.

மனத்தின் மந்திரசக்தி உடலின் வாழ்வை - பாம்பின் விஷத்தை மீறி - நிர்ணயிப்பதுபோல் ஆன்மா உடலை (ஜடத்தை) நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும். தியானத்தில் ஆன்மாவில் எழும் காட்சிகள் நிஜவாழ்வில் நடந்தால் ஆன்மா செயல்படுவதாக அர்த்தம்.

பிரார்த்தனை பலிப்பதே ஆன்மா ஜடத்தை ஆள்வதாகும். ஆன்மா ஜடத்தை நிர்ணயிப்பதன்முன், உணர்வை நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும், அதற்குமுன் எண்ணத்தை நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும். எண்ணம் கட்டுப்படுவது, ஆன்மா எண்ணத்தை நிர்ணயிப்பதாகும்.

Sri Aurobindo says: The Divine is that from which all comes, in which all lives, and to return to the truth of the Divine now clouded over by Ignorance is the soul’s aim in life. What the Divine wants of you is that you should grow in the Truth and the higher Nature, reject the false and the lower Nature. Message of the Day: திறமை கர்மத்தினை சேர்க்கும், சரணாகதி கர்மத்தினை அழிக்கும்

Mother says: The Mother :                                    Question :I have faith in my strength and believe I am capable of doing all the work. Mother's Answer : It is not in your own strength that you should have faith. It is in the divine force, which works in all who are consecrated to the Divine and sustains them in their action. -  From More Answers from The Mother உலக வாழ்வு கர்மத்திற்குட்பட்டது. மனிதன் தன் செயலால் கர்மத்தையும், திறமையையும் வளர்க்கிறான். (faith) தெய்வ நம்பிக்கை கர்மத்திலிருந்து அவனை விடுவிக்கிறது. திறமையால் முன்னேறுகிறான். கர்மம் தடையாக இருந்ததைப்போல் திறமையும் அருளுக்குத் தடை என உணர்ந்தால், திறமையை, சரணம் செய்ய முன் வந்தால் (surrender) அருள் பேரருளாகி முடிவான பலனை, முதலிலேயே கொடுக்கிறது. உழைப்பு (work) கர்மத்தைச் சேகரிக்கும். நம்பிக்கை (faith) கர்மத்தைக் கரைக்கும். Prayer of the Day: Peace, peace upon all the earth!

Mother's Prayer: The Mother :   PEACE, peace upon all the earth! May all escape from the ordinary consciousness and be delivered from the attachment for material things;may they awake to the knowledge of Thy divine presence, unite themselves with Thy supreme consciousness and taste the plenitude of peace that springs from it. Lord, Thou art the sovereign Master of our being. Thy law is our law, and with all our strength we aspire to identify our consciousness with Thy eternal consciousness, that we may accomplish Thy sublime work in each thing and at every moment. Lord, deliver us from all care for contingencies, deliver us from the ordinary outlook on things. Grant that we may henceforth see only with Thy eyes and act only by Thy will. Transform us into living torches of Thy divine love. With reverence, with devotion, in a joyful consecration of my whole being I give myself, O Lord, to the fulfilment of Thy law.
