அனைவருக்கும் எங்களது இனிய புத்தாண்டு வாழ்த்துக்கள்.

இந்த இனிய புத்தாண்டில் அனைவரும் ஸ்ரீ அன்னையின் உண்மையின், சத்தியத்தின் வழியைப் பின்பற்றி நம் ஆன்மீக வாழ்வில் முன்னேறுவோம். அன்னையின் வழி நடப்போம். ஸ்ரீ அன்னை மற்றும் அரவிந்தரின் பேரருளைப் பெறுவோம்.

Flowers are extremely receptive. All the flowers to which I have given a significance receive exactly the force I put into them and transmit it.  

 When I give them, I give you states of consciousness; the flowers are the mediums and it all depends on your receptivity whether they are effective or not.

   ............There is another practice which can be very helpful to the progress of the consciousness. Whenever there is a disagreement on any matter, such as a decision to be taken, or an action to be carried out, one must never remain closed up in one’s own conception or point of view. On the contrary, one must make an effort to understand the other’s point of view, to put oneself in his place and, instead of quarrelling or even fighting, find the solution which can reasonably satisfy both parties; there always is one for men of goodwill.

 ........When one does not progress, one gets bored —old and young, everybody—because we are here upon earth to progress. If we do not progress every minute, well, it is indeed boring,monotonous;it is not always pleasant,it is far from being fine. “So I am going to find out today what progress I can make; there is something I do not know and which I can learn.”

  ......If you want to learn, you can learn at every moment. As for me I have learnt even by listening to little children’s chatter. Every moment something may happen; someone may say a word to you, even an idiot may say a word that opens you to something enabling you to make some progress.

ஒருவனுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் முன்னேற்றம் Progressஎன்பது அவனுடைய தொழிலைப் பொருத்தது, படித்த பட்டத்தைப் பொருத்தது. பிறந்த குடும்பத்தைப் பொருத்தது. அவனுடைய சூழ்நிலையைப் பொருத்தது. எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலிருந்தாலும், ஒருவன் அன்னையைத் தன் வாழ்வில் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவுடன், அவன் எதிர்காலத்தையும், அவன் முன்னேற்றத்தையும் அன்னை நிர்ணயித்துவிடுகிறார். அதன்பின் மனிதன் எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலிருந்தாலும், எந்தப் படிப்பைப் படித்தாலும், எந்தத் தொழிலைச் செய்தாலும், அதை ஒரு கருவியாக்கி, அன்னை வழங்குகிறார். நிர்ணயிப்பது அன்னை. படிப்பு, தொழில் ஆகியவை மார்க்கங்கள், கருவிகள். அன்னையை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டபின், நம் எதிர்காலத்தை நிர்ணயிக்கும் திறனுடையவை எல்லாம் கருவிகளாக மாறி அன்னையின் ஆணையை நிறைவேற்றுகின்றன..

அன்னையின் பாதையில்..... குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆன்மிகம் தேவையா என்பதற்கு ஸ்ரீ அன்னை தரும் விளக்கம்

நம் சிந்தனைக்கு:


வழி வழியாக வந்த மரபில், ஆன்மீக ஈடுபாடு அல்லது தீவிரமான இறை நம்பிக்கை என்பது முதுமை அடைந்தவர்களுக்கானது என்ற எண்ணமும் உள்ளது. "பரபரப்பாக இயந்திரம் போன்று சுழன்று கொண்டிருக்கிறோம், இதில் தியானத்திற்கும், வழிபாட்டிற்கும் ஏது நேரம்?",  என்பவர்களும் உண்டு. நான் வேலையில் இருந்து ஒய்வு பெற்ற பின்தான் ஆன்மீகத்தில் ஈடுபடலாம் என்று இருக்கிறேன் என்பவர்களும் உண்டு. "எனது குழந்தைகள் ஒரு நிலையை அடைந்து விட்ட பிறகுதான், எனக்கு நிம்மதி. அதன் பிறகுதான் ஆன்மிகம்", என்பவரும் உண்டு. இப்படியாக, இறைவனை தீவிரமாகச் சிந்திப்பது என்பது அன்றாட வாழ்வில் நடவாத காரியம் என்றும் எண்ணம் கொண்டவர்கள் உள்ளனர். இதனை வைத்துப் பார்த்தால் ஆன்மிகம் வேறு, அன்றாட வாழ்வு வேறு என்றும் நினைப்பவர்கள் உள்ளனர்தானே? பெறற்கரிய, மனிதப பிறவியைப் பெற்ற நாம், இறைவனின் கருவியாகச் செயல்படுவதற்கும், அவனால் நாம் பெரும் பேரானந்தத்தைப் பெறுவதற்கும் நாம் முதுமைப் பருவம் வரை காத்திருக்க வேண்டுமா?

இதே போல், குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆன்மீகக் கருத்துக்களை கூறுவதும், சிறு வயதிலேயே அவர்களை ஆன்மீகத்தில் ஈடுபாடு கொள்ளச் செய்வதும், சில சமயங்களில், எதிர்மறையான விளைவுகளை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்பதும் சிலரின் கருத்து. இதற்கும் அன்னையின் பதில்களை இக்கட்டுரையில் காணலாம்.


அன்னையின் பார்வையில்:

 இந்த விஷயத்தில், ஸ்ரீ அன்னை, சாதாரண வாழ்கை, ஆன்மீக வாழ்க்கை என்று பிரிப்பது மிகவும் பழமையான முறை என்கிறார். அவர் கூறுவது போல், நம் வாழ்வில் நாம் அறிந்தோ அல்லது அறியாமலோ, நாம் சந்திக்கும் எல்லா நிகழ்விலும் ஆன்மிகம் என்பது பிரிக்க முடியாததாக உள்ளது என்றே கூற வேண்டும். ,

If you need to make an effort to go into meditation, you are still very far from being able to live the spiritual life. When it takes an effort to come out of it, then indeed your meditation can be an indication that you are in the spiritual life.

அன்னை கூறும் ஆன்மீக வாழ்வு என்பது இறை சிந்தனையுடன் - Divine Consciousness உடன் நாம் வாழும் வாழ்வு ஆகும். அதற்கு நேரமோ காலமோ தேவையில்லை என்றும் அவர் கூறுகிறார். உதாரணமாக, இறைவனின் சிந்தனையுடன், தியானம் என்பதை நாம் மேற்கொள்ள மிகுந்த பிரயத்தனப்பட வேண்டும் என்று கொண்டால், நாம் ஆன்மீக வாழ்வில் இருந்து மிகத் தொலைவில் உள்ளோம் என்று கொள்ளலாம்.மாறாக, தியானத்தில் இருந்து வெளியே வருவதற்கு, பெரிய முயற்சி வேண்டியுள்ளது எனில், உங்களது தியானம், நீங்கள் ஆன்மீக வாழ்வில் உள்ளீர்கள் என்பதனைக் குறிக்கும் என்று அழகுற விளக்குகிறார் ஸ்ரீ அன்னை.

The division between ‘ordinary life’ and ‘spiritual life’ is an outdated antiquity.”

குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆன்மிகம் சிறு வயதிலேயே தேவையா என்று அவரிடம் எழுப்பப்பட்ட கேள்விக்கு ஸ்ரீ அன்னை, நாம் பயிலும் அறிவியலிலும், வரலாற்றிலும் ஆன்மா உள்ளது, உண்மை உள்ளது. எவற்றில் இருந்தும், எந்தச் செயலில் அல்லது நிகழ்வில் இருந்தும் ஆன்மீகத்தைப் பிரித்துப் பார்க்க முடியாது - அது முட்டாள்தனமானது என்றும் கூறுகிறார். குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆன்மீகத்துடன் உண்மையையும் போதிக்க வேண்டும் என்று அவர் கூறுகிறார்.

Question :   ......At that point I said that in my opinion, to speak to the children of spiritual things often has the opposite result, and that these words lose all their value.”

Mother's Answer:

Spiritual things... They are taught history or spiritual things, they are taught science or spiritual things. That is the stupidity. In history, the Spirit is there; in science, the Spirit is there—the Truth is everywhere. And what is needed is not to teach it in a false way, but to teach it in a true way. They cannot get that into their heads.

Do not divide what is one. Both science and spirituality have the same goal—the Supreme Divinity. The only difference between them is that the latter knows it and the other not.  (On Education)

சந்நியாசம் ஏற்று, உலக வாழ்வில் இருந்து பிரிந்து வாழ்பவர்கள்தான் ஆன்மீகவாதிகள், மற்றவர்கள் எல்லாம் சாதாரண வாழ்வில் உழலுபவர்கள் என்று நாம் எண்ணுகிறோம். ஆனால் அது உண்மையன்று என்றும் கூறுகிறார். அவ்வாறு பிரித்துப் பார்க்க முடியாது.   பிரித்துப்பார்க்க வேண்டும் என நாம் விரும்பினால், சத்தியத்துடன் வாழ்பவர்கள், உண்மையில்லாமல் வாழ்பவர்கள் என்று வேண்டுமானால் மனிதர்களைப் பிரிக்கலாம் என்கிறார். நீங்கள் கூறும் ஆன்மீக வாழ்வோ அல்லது சாதாரண வாழ்வோ எல்லா இடங்களிலும், உண்மையும் பொய்யும் கலந்தே உள்ளன. ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்று கூறும் அனைவரிடமும், பொய் இல்லை என்பதும் இல்லை என்கிறார் அன்னை.

There is no“spiritual life”! It is still the old idea, still the old idea of the sage, the sannyasin, the... who represents spiritual life, while all the others represent ordinary life—and it is not true, it is not true, it is not true at all. If they still need an opposition between two things—for the poor mind doesn’t work if you don’t give it an opposition — if they need an opposition, let them take the opposition between Truth and Falsehood, it is a little better; I don’t say it is perfect, but it is a little better. So, in all things, Falsehood and Truth are mixed every where in the so-called“spiritual life”,in sannyasins, in swamis, in those who think they represent the life divine on earth, all that —there also, there is a mixture of Falsehood and Truth. It would be better not to make any division.

இன்றைய செய்தி/ Message of the Day :

   One who receives and accepts and lives in the Mother's light, will begin to see the truth on all the planes, the mental, the vital, the physical. He will reject all that is undivine, - the undivine is the falsehood, the ignorance, the error of the dark forces; the undivine is all that is obscure and unwilling to accept the divine Truth and its light and force. The undivine, therefore, is all that is unwilling to accept the light and force of the Mother. That is why I am always telling you to keep yourself in contact with the Mother and with her Light and Force, because it is only so that you can come out of this confusion and obscurity and receive the Truth that comes from above..

அன்னையின் உணர்வே, இறை உணர்வு. அன்னையின் ஒளி, சத்தியத்தின் ஒளி , அன்னையின் சக்தி சத்திய ஜீவியத்தின் சக்தி. அன்னையை உணர்ந்து, வாழ்வில் ஏற்று செயல்படும் ஒருவர் தனது மனம், உடல் மற்றும் உணர்வு அனைத்திலும் சத்தியத்தை பார்க்கலாம். அன்னையை ஏற்ற ஒருவர், இறைவனுக்கு எதிரான பொய், அறியாமை,  இருள் மற்றும் இறைவனின் சத்தியத்திற்கு எதிரான மனப்பான்மையை  விலக்குவர். அதனால்தான் அன்னையின் ஒளியிடனும், சக்தியுடனும் நாம் எப்போதும் தொடர்புடையவர்களாக இருக்கவேண்டும் என அரவிந்தர் வலியுறுத்துகிறார். ஏனெனில், இதன் மூலமாக மட்டுமே நாம் குழப்பத்தில் இருந்தும், அறியாமையில் இருந்தும் விடுபட்டு உண்மையை ஏற்க முடியும் என்கிறார் ஸ்ரீ அரவிந்தர்.

பொய்யை எதிர்க்கும் அன்பருடைய மெய் வெல்லும், பொய்க் கலப்பில்லாமல் வெல்லும்.

அகந்தை பொய்யானது, பொய்யின் கருவியுமாகும். பொய்யின் கருவி மெய்யைத் தேடி வந்தால், அது மெய்யைக் கண்டுபிடிக்காது, பொய்யைக் கண்டு கொள்ளும். யோக சக்தி ஒளியாலானது. ஒளி சத்தியத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது. யோகத்தால் செயல்படும்பொழுது ஒளி வெளிப்படும். அது மெய்யைக் கண்டு கொள்ளும். சத்தியம் ஜெயிக்கும். இறைவனின் இலட்சியம் பூர்த்தியாகும்.

அன்னையின் பாதையில்..... நம்பிக்கையே அதிர்ஷ்டத்தைத் தரும்

          அதிர்ஷ்டம் என்ற விஷயத்தில், ஆர்வம் கொள்ளாதவர் குறைவு. வாய்ப்புக்காக காத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஒருவர், தனக்கு ஏதேனும் அதிர்ஷ்டம் வந்து விடாதா என்று நினைக்கிறார். அதிர்ஷ்டம் நமது வாழ்வையே மாற்ற வல்லது என்றும் நம்மில் பலருக்கு எண்ணம் உண்டு. சாதாரண வாழ்வு என்று நாம் குறிப்பிடுவது, இறைசிந்தனை (Divine Consciouness ) அற்ற வாழ்வைக் குறிப்பதாகும். வெற்றி பெற்றவரை அதிஷ்டக்காரர் என்கிறோம். சிலர் ஒரு வெற்றியைத் தொடர்ந்து, பல வெற்றிகளைப் பெறுவதைக் காண்கிறோம். 

நமது சிந்தனைக்கு:


தொடர்ந்து தோல்விகளையும் சிலர் பெறுகின்றனர்."என்ன செய்வது, அதிர்ஷ்டம் இல்லை, இது எனது துரதிஷ்டம், எனது விதி"என அவர்கள் மன வருத்தம் கொள்வதையும் நாம் காண்கிறோம். மிகவும் எளிதாக சிலர், தனது தோல்விக்கான காரணத்தை, தனக்கு அதிர்ஷ்டமின்மையால் ஏற்பட்டது என்று பழியை அதன் மீது போட்டு விடுகிறார்கள். இது சாதாரண வாழ்வில் உழலுபவர்கள் கூறும் பதிலாகும். இவ்வாறு கூறுபவர்களுக்கு அன்னை கூறும் பதில் என்ன?
அன்னையின் பார்வையில்:
         சாதாரண வாழ்வு என்று அன்னை குறிப்பிடுவது ஆன்மீகம் இல்லாத வாழ்வு இல்லை. அது இறைசிந்தனை அல்லது இறைவனின் உணர்வு ?(Divine Consciousness)  இல்லாத வாழ்வு ஆகும். அதாவது, ஒவ்வொரு செயலும், இறைவனின் செயலே என்று நாம் உணராத வாழ்வுதான் சாதாரண வாழ்வு. ஆன்மிகம் - Spirituality என்பது இவ்வுலகில் இல்லாத இடமில்லை. சாதாரண வாழ்வு, ஆன்மீக வாழ்வு (Spiritual Life ) என்ற பிரிவுபடுத்துவது என்பது மிகவும்  பழமையான முறை, அது அர்த்தமற்றது என்கிறார் அன்னை. 

..........................In ordinary life this happens all the time. Only, you know, in ordinary life one says, “It is circumstances, it is fate, it’s my bad luck, it is their fault”, or else, “I have no luck.” That is very, very, very convenient. One veils everything and expects... yes, one has happy moments and then bad ones, and finally —ah, well,finallyonefallsintoahole,for every body tumbles over,and expects to, sooner or later. So, one does not worry, or worries all the time—which comes to the same thing.

 துரதிஷ்டம் - Bad Luck என்பதுதான் தோல்விக்கு காரணம் என்பவர்கள் ஒன்றை முதலில் புரிந்து கொள்ள  வேண்டும். நமக்கு நடக்கும் நல்லதும், கெட்டதும் நாம் யார் என்பதைப் பொறுத்தே நமக்கு நடக்கின்றன என்று கூறுகிறார் அன்னை. அதற்கு நாம்தான் காரணம் என்பதையும்  நாம் உணர வேண்டும். இது நாம் செய்த தவற்றின் விளைவால் நடந்து என புரிந்து கொண்டு, தன்னலமற்ற இறைசிந்தனையுடன் எந்தச் செயலையும் செய்ய முற்பட வேண்டும்.

......................................That is, one is unconscious, one lives unconsciously and puts all the blame for what happens on others and on the circumstances but never tells oneself: “Why! It is my own fault.”... It needs a sufficiently vast consciousness to begin. Even among those who profess to be conscious, there are not many who see clearly enough to become aware that all that happens to them comes from what they are and from nothing else.

நமது அசைக்க முடியாத நம்பிக்கைதான், நாம் வெற்றி பெறுவோம் என்ற நம்பிக்கைதான் நமது அதிஷ்டத்தை பெற்றுத்தரும் என்று கூறும் அன்னை அதற்கு ஒரு கதையையும் கூறுகிறார்.

ஒருகாலத்தில், துளை இடப்பட்ட நாணயம் கிடைத்தால் அதனை அதிர்ஷ்டம் என்று கொள்வார்கள். அப்படி ஒரு நாணயம் ஏழ்மை நிலையில் இருந்த, தன்னம்பிக்கை இழந்த ஒரு மனிதனுக்குகே கிடைத்தது. இனி என் வாழ்வில் துன்பம்  இல்லை. எல்லா வளங்களும் நான் பெறுவேன் என்ற நம்பிக்கை கொண்டான் அவன். ஒரு சிறிய பையில் அதனை மிகவும் பாதுகாப்பாய் வைத்துக் கொண்டு, தனது Coat pocket - ல் வைத்துக் கொண்டான். அவன் நம்பிக்கையின்படியே மிகப் பெரிய செல்வந்தன் ஆனான். அதற்கு காரணம் அந்த நாணயம் தான் என்று நம்பினார் அவன்.

There was a man working in an office whose life was rather poor and who was not very successful, and one day he found a perforated coin. He put it in his pocket and said to himself, “Now I am going to prosper!” And he was full of hope, courage, energy, because he knew: “Now that I have the coin, I am sure to succeed!” And, in fact, he went on prospering, prospering more and more. ......... and people said, “What a wonderful man! How well he works! How he finds all the solutions to all problems!”

ஒரு நாள் அதனை எடுத்துப் பார்க்க விரும்பிய அவன், அந்த சிறிய பையை தனது Coat - ல் இருந்து எடுக்கிறான். பையை திறந்தால், அதிர்ச்சி காத்திருக்கிறது. அதில் அந்த துளை இடப்பட்ட நாணயம் இல்லை. சாதாரண நாணயம்தான் இருந்தது. அவனுடைய மனைவி, "நான் பல வருடங்கள் முன்பு, ஒருநாள் உங்கள் Coat - ஐ உதறிய பொழுது அது தவறி விழுந்து விட்டது. எங்கு தேடியும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. அதனால் உங்களுடைய நம்பிக்கை குலைக்க விரும்பாமல், ஒரு சாதாரண நாணயத்தை அதில் வைத்து விட்டேன் "என்றாள்.

 And then, one day, he was a little curious, and said, “I am going to see my coin!”—years later. He was having his breakfast with his wife and said, “I am going to see my coin!” His wife told him, “Why do you want to see it? It’s not necessary.” “Yes, yes, let me see my coin.” He took out the little bag in which he kept the coin, and found inside a coin which was not perforated! “Ah,” he said, “this is not my coin! What is this? Who has changed my coin?” Then his wife told him, “Look, one day there was some dust on your coat.... I shook it off through the window and the coin fell out. I had forgotten that the coin was there. I ran to look for it but didn’t find it. Someone had picked it up. So I thought you would be very unhappy and I put another coin there.” (Laughter) Only, he, of course, was confident that his coin was there and that was enough. It is the faith, the trust that does it, you see.... The perforated coin gives you nothing at all. You can always try. When one has confidence... There! now... and that’s enough.

அவன் தனது நாணயம் தன்னிடம் இருப்பதாகவும், அதனால் தான் முன்னேறியதாகவும் கொண்ட நம்பிக்கை, அவனை வளர்ச்சியடையச் செய்தது. இறை நம்பிக்கை, இறைவன் நம்மை காப்பான், உதவி புரிவான் என்ற நம்பிக்கையே போதும், வேறு எதுவும் வேண்டாம் என்று கூறி முடிக்கிறார் அன்னை.


நாம் வாழ்வில் Prosperity பெற நமக்கு கிடைத்த அரிய அதிர்ஷ்டம்தான் ஸ்ரீ அன்னை. அன்னை நம்முடன் இருக்கிறார், நமது உண்மையில் அவர் இருக்கிறார் என்ற அசைக்க முடியாத நம்பிக்கையை கொள்வோம். அன்னையின் பாதையில் செல்வோம். வளர்வோம்.

மலரும், அது கூறும் செய்தியும்

Flowers are extremely receptive. All the flowers to which I have given a significance receive exactly the force I put into them and transmit it.  
 When I give them, I give you states of consciousness; the flowers are the mediums and it all depends on your receptivity whether they are effective or not.

 அன்னை பல நூறு மலர்களுக்குரிய சிறப்பு அம்சங்களையும் அவற்றை ஸ்ரீ அன்னை அரவிந்தருக்குச் சமர்ப்பிப்பதால் நாம் பெரும் பலன்களையும் பற்றிக் கூறியுள்ளார். இன்றைய பகுதியில் மலரின் பலன்களையும், அதனோடு தொடர்புடைய செய்தியையும் காணலாம்.

  Men who possess wealth and are surrounded by the things that give them luxury and enjoyment turn to the Divine, and immediately their movement is to run away from these things,—or, as they say,“to escape from their bondage”. But it is a wrong movement; you must not think that the things you have belong to you, — they belong to the Divine. If the Divine wants you to enjoy anything, enjoy it; but be ready too to give it up the very next moment with a smile.

நாம் பெரும் செல்வம், வளம் மற்றும் வசதிகள் அனைத்தும் இறைவனுக்குரியவையே. நாம் அவற்றை அனுபவிக்க வேண்டும் என்பது இறைவனின் திருவுள்ளமானானால், அதனை நாம் ஏற்க வேண்டும். அதேபோல், எந்த நேரத்திலும், அவற்றை, புன்னகையுடன், விட்டு விலகும் மனப்பக்குவத்தையும் நாம் ஏற்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு ஏன் தேவைப்படுகிறது?

நமது சிந்தனைக்கு:

வெளிப்படுத்தப்படும் உணர்வு, செயல் அல்லது எண்ணங்கள், சிந்தனைகள் என எல்லாவற்றிலும் மனிதனுக்கு கட்டுப்பாடு என்பது தேவைபடுகிறது. ஒருவர் சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு இல்லாமல் இருந்தால், அவரைச் சுற்றி உள்ள மற்றவர்களாலோ அல்லது சூழ்நிலையாலோ கட்டுப்பாடு ஏற்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. கட்டுப்பாடு என்ற சொல்லே சிலருக்குப் பிடிப்பதில்லை. அது நமது சுதந்திரத்தைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்காக மட்டுமே என்றும் நினைக்கின்றனர். நமக்கு நாமே ஏற்படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் கட்டுப்பாட்டை சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு என்கிறோம். ஏன் இந்தக் கட்டுப்பாடு தேவைப்படுகிறது?

செயல், எண்ணம், பேச்சு, பழக்கம் என எல்லாவற்றிலும் கட்டுப்பாடு என்பது ஒருவருக்கு தேவைபடுகிறது. உணர்ச்சியைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாமல் தன்னிலையை மறப்பவர்கள் சிலர். கோபம் கொண்ட ஒருவர் வன்முறையை நாடுவது அவரது சுயக்கட்டுபாடின்மையைக் காட்டுகிறது. பேச்சைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாதவர்கள் வம்பை வளர்கிறார்கள். எண்ணங்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாதவர்கள் மனக்குழப்பங்களுக்கு ஆளாகிறார்கள். இது போல சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு இன்மையால், நம்மாலும் பிறராலும் ஏற்படுத்தப்படும் எத்தனையோ பாதிப்புகளைக்  கூறலாம்.

மனிதனின் பெரும்பாலான குணங்கள் யாவும் ஒரு காட்டுக் குதிரையினை பழக்கப்படுத்துவது போல கட்டுபடுத்தக் கூடியதுதான் என்கிறார் அன்னை. மிகவும் அரிதாக, சில குணங்கள் அல்லது பழக்கங்கள் மட்டுமே புலியின் வன்மையான குணத்தைப் போல கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாது என்கிறார். குதிரையின் கடிவாளத்தைப் போல நாம், நமது செயல்கள் அல்லது எண்ணங்களை அடக்க போட்டுக் கொள்ளும் கடிவாளம், சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு என்கிறார் அன்னை.

நமது இயற்கையான குணத்தை மாற்றிக் கொள்ளும்படி , பெரியவர்களோ நண்பர்களோ கூறினால், அவர்கள் நம்மை கட்டுபடுத்த எண்ணுகிறார்கள் என எண்ணாமல், அதன் உண்மையை அறிய முயல்வது நன்மை பயக்கும் என்றும் கூறுகிறார் அன்னை.

................A WILD horse can be tamed but one never puts a bridle on a tiger. Why is that? Because in the tiger there is a wicked, cruel and incorrigible force, so that we cannot expect anything good from him and have to destroy him to prevent him from doing harm. But the wild horse, on the other hand, however unmanageable and skittish he may be to begin with, can be controlled with a little effort and patience.

.................In men too there are rebellious and unmanageable desires and impulses, but these things are rarely uncontrollable like the tiger. They are more often like the wild horse: to be broken in they need a bridle; and the best bridle is the one you put on them yourself, the one called self-control.

அன்னை கூறும் ஒரு கதையைக் காண்போம். மிகவும் திறமை வாய்ந்த ஒரு பிரம்மச்சாரி, பிறர் தன்னை புகழ வேண்டும் என பெருமைக்காக தனது பல திறமைகளை வளர்த்துக் கொள்கிறான். பதினாறு நாடுகளைச் சுற்றிய பின், பல கலைகள் கற்று, திறமைசாலியாக வரும் அவன், "என்னை விட திறமைசாலிகள் இவ்வுலகில் உள்ளனரா?" என்கிறான். பகவான் புத்தர், அவன் கற்காத ஒரு கலையை அவனுக்கு உணர்த்த நினைக்கிறார். "நீங்கள் யார்? "என்று அவன் கேட்ட கேள்விக்கு, "தனது சொந்த உடலைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தத் தெரிந்தவன்", என்கிறார். அது அறிவாளியால் மட்டுமே முடியும் என்கிறார்.

"அது எப்படி முடியும்? "  என்கிறான் அவன்.

"புகழ்ந்தாலும், இகழ்ந்தாலும் தன்னிலை மாறாத கட்டுப்பாடு உள்ள மனத்தைக் கொண்டவன்தான் தலைசிறந்த அறிவாளி "என்று கூறி முடிக்கிறார் பகவான்.

A young Brahmacharin was clever and knew it. He wished to add to his talents more and more so that everyone would admire him. So he travelled from land to land. With an arrow-maker he learned to make arrows. Further on he learnt how to build and sail ships. In another place he learnt how to build houses. And in other places he acquired various other skills. In this way he visited sixteen different countries. Then he returned home and proudly declared, “What man on earth is as skilful as I?” The Lord Buddha saw him and wanted to teach him a nobler art than any he had learnt before. Assuming the appearance of an old Shramana he presented himself before the young man with a begging bowl in his hand. “Who are you?” asked the Brahmacharin. “I am a man who is able to control his own body.” “What do you mean?” “The archer can aim his arrows,” the Buddha replied. “The pilot guides the ship, the architect supervises the construction of buildings, but the wise man controls himself.” “In what way?” “If he is praised his mind remains unmoved, if he is blamed his mind remains equally unmoved. He loves to follow the Right Law and he lives in peace.”

ஆகையால், எத்தனையோ திறமை கலை பெற்றாலும், வாழ்வில் வளங்களைப் பெற்றாலும், சுயக்கட்டுப்பாடு என்ற கடிவாளம் நமக்கு மிகவும் மிகவும் முக்கியம் என்றாகிறது.
